Privacy policy

Solio is run by designStream in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Solio website, web app, Mac app and iPhone app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We act as the controller of your account data. For the client records you keep in Solio, you are the controller and we process them on your behalf.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, name, business name and type, and the settings you choose.
  • Your workspace: the clients, contacts, projects, tasks, notes, events, quotes, invoices, expenses, routines and documents you add. This can include personal data about your own clients.
  • Billing: your plan and subscription status. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
  • Usage of AI features: a count of requests and tokens per feature, so plan limits can be applied.
  • Technical data: log-in session cookies, and basic logs (such as IP address and device type) kept by our hosting providers for security and reliability. The web app uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies.

How we use it

  • To provide Solio: storing your workspace, syncing it between devices and sending the emails you ask it to send.
  • To log you in and keep your account secure.
  • To take payment and apply your plan.
  • To answer support requests and tell you about changes to the service.

Our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, and your consent where we ask for it (for example, connecting Google Calendar). We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI features

When you use Sol, receipt scanning or research, the relevant part of your workspace (or the receipt, or the public web pages being researched) is sent to Anthropic to generate the answer. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. Nothing Sol proposes is saved until you press Create.

Google Calendar

If you connect Google Calendar, Solio reads the events on your calendars so they can show in your Solio calendar, and creates a “Solio” calendar to which it writes the events you choose to sync. We store a refresh token for your account so the sync keeps working; disconnecting in Settings deletes it.

Solio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, do not let people read it except with your permission, for security or where the law requires, and do not use it to train AI models.

Who processes your data

  • Supabase: database, file storage and log-in.
  • Vercel: hosting for the website and web app.
  • Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
  • Anthropic: the AI features above.
  • Google and Apple: Sign in with Google or Apple when you choose them, Google Calendar when you connect it, and Apple Maps for address lookup.
  • Our email provider: log-in codes and the quotes and invoices you send.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

We keep your workspace for as long as your account is open. To close your account, email us and we will delete your workspace and files. Billing records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email hello@solio.pro and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

Solio sets only the cookies it needs to keep you logged in. This website stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser. Neither is used for tracking.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you by email before any significant change takes effect.
